Gutter Cleaning

Risks of a Clogged Gutter

Gutters are designed to carry water away from a structure, reducing the risk of foundation damage, ground settlement and erosion, and standing water on the property. However, gutters are notorious to collect debris and Florida is known for the rainfall we receive throughout the year. When your gutter is clogged and not flowing properly, standing water in the gutter can lead to a wide range of issues.

These issues can risk the integrity of the structures roofline and soffit. Clogged gutters can also lead to health concerns caused by stagnant water, a breeding ground for those pesky, disease carrying mosquitoes. In addition to mosquitoes and other insects, clogged gutters are prime real estate for rodents. The debris in the gutters attract mice, rats, and others as they provide coverage and nesting material. Rodents carry countless diseases such as Hantavirus, Leptospirosis, and Salmonella to name a few.

What We Do

At Pressure Washing Scallywags, we work to remove all loose debris, including leaves, sticks, nests and shingle aggregate. We flush the gutters with clean water, removing all remaining debris from both the gutter itself and the downspouts. The cleaning is not complete until the gutter is flowing and draining properly.

How Often Should I Clean My Gutters?

As with most maintenance items, it depends, more specifically on the amount of tree coverage on the property. To ensure gutters are working as intended, we recommend cleaning out gutters every six months; once in the fall and then again in the spring before the rainy season. Keeping to a routine schedule will prove to cheaper in the long-term and reduce the risk of any issue.
